Custom Orders and Commissions:
If you want a piece of art, but have different colors/patterns/textures/sizes in mind, please let me know. I probably have the materials that could be used to create your dream project. I would love to brainstorm the possibilities with you.
Commissions are considered on the basis of time, complexity, materials, size, and budget. Commissions aren’t just for rich folks! We can work within your budget.
At an initial consultation we can discuss these variables and come to an agreement. Generally, 50% nonrefundable deposit is due upon acceptance of the agreement, the balance due upon delivery of the art work(s). I will keep you apprised of the progress of the piece(s) with weekly images and updates. You will be able to submit up to three adjustment requests before pricing will need to be revised. Click here for more: Art Commission Agreement.
Client Feedback:
"After a trip to Ireland, during which my wife and I took many pictures of the amazing southwestern coastline, we decided to have one of them painted. We commissioned Kristen to do this painting and it is absolutely spectacular! She was able to capture the mood and energy of one of our favorite stops along the way! It now hangs as our living room centerpiece, and will allow us to remember that trip and those moments forever.
In addition to Kristen's skill as an artist, she is also great at customer service. We met as much as I wanted, she kept me updated regarding progress, stayed true to our agree-upon timeline, and her terms around payment were more than fair!
Kristen was very easy to work with, was concerned with my satisfaction at every point in the process, and I now consider her a friend!"

A general note about my work:
All of my work is handmade by me and comes with a full guarantee. No two pieces are identical and that’s part of the charm of handmade work. Please allow for minor variations in appearance from what is shown in website photos. Differences in computer monitor settings may affect the appearance of my work on your screen.
A note about materials:
Paintings
I use Golden Brand paints, mediums, and finishes (UV protectants) for my acrylic paintings. I use Holbein and Windsor and Newton water soluble oils, mediums for oil paintings. I varnish most of my oil paintings with a satin finish. Applying finishes to paintings protects the surface from light degradation, dust, and promotes stability of the underlying materials.
Paintings are gallery wrapped (sides are painted) so they can be hung unframed, but you may, of course, frame a painting should you wish.
Mixed Media and Assemblage
Because many handmade papers, found objects, and experimental materials are used in the production of my works, longevity varies. I make the work as durable as possible but it must be understood that mixed media experimental art is not meant to be archival. Temporality is a feature of the work.
I use the best available adhesives while still trying to remain eco-friendly, and will err on the side of the less toxic bonding materials given a choice. This could result in premature failure of the adhesives or bonding agent. While I haven’t had art returned to me for this reason, should this occur please inform me right away and I will repair the piece at no cost to you. If for some reason the piece is unrepairable, we can work out an agreement for an acceptable substitute from my existing body of work.
US Shipping:
Unless an item is made-to-order (such as commissions or archival print reproductions), I ship within 3-5 business days of having received a cleared payment. If you have any special shipping needs, please let me know – I want to make sure that your needs are met.
I send all of my handmade work insured. Standard shipping is via USPS, but I can ship UPS or FedEx. I do make a point of comparing costs before selecting the final method of shipping.
In the event that additional costs are incurred after the item has shipped (due to an incorrect or incomplete shipping address), then the buyer is responsible for covering those costs. For example, if an address correction is required, then I will contact you prior to authorizing the correction so that the additional payment can be made.
I make a point of packing the art I ship really well because I want to make sure you get your art in good shape! I try to reuse shipping materials whenever possible. I only reuse clean fill (bubble wrap, paper, etc.) and boxes and tube mailers that are structurally sound.
International Shipping:
I’m happy to accept orders from outside the United States. Customers are responsible for all customs and duty fees – my purchase and shipping costs do not include these fees. All customs forms will state the actual value of the item(s) purchased.
Refunds and Exchanges:
I offer a full guarantee on all the work I sell with the exception of “pay what you can” work, which is final sale. In the event that you are dissatisfied with your purchase, I am happy to perform an exchange or refund as long as you contact me within 10 business days after having received your order. Items should be in new and salable condition. Shipping costs will not be refunded. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and must include insurance for the purchase price. Custom orders are not refundable.
I make a conscious effort to pack my work so that damages do not occur during shipment. However, if your order arrives damaged, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can work with you to resolve the issue. I send all packages with insurance so that any damage is covered. Please save all packaging materials in the event that a claim needs to be filed.
Limit of Liability:
I am not responsible for changes in the artwork due to improper framing and/or presentation that results in deterioration or fading. This includes but is not limited to UV degradation, moisture, humidity, molds, infestation, stains, warping, shrinkage, expansion, or any other events that occur once a buyer takes possession of the Artwork.
